Listen And Be Silent

Updated: Jul 31, 2019

Have you ever noticed that the words LISTEN and SILENT are spelled with the same letters? These are two powerful words that most times are not practiced effectively by individuals in all age groups. Examples: Wives or Girlfriends complain that their husbands or boyfriends dont listen. Husbands or Boyfriends get annoyed when wives or girlfriends nag instead of being silent when they are trying to get their point across. Parents yell at their children because they dont listen. Teachers get frustrated when students are not silent during class instruction.

We live in a society that is bombarded with noise, which makes it is difficult for us to LISTEN and to be SILENT. The constant clutter of loud noises from the everyday hustle and bustle distracts us from slowing down to LISTEN to others and to be SILENT when someone else is speaking, particularly when God is talking to us.

According to James 1:19, there is a three-step process that God intends for us to practice habitually:

1. Be swift to hear

2. Slow to speak

3. Slow to wrath

Practicing this three-step process is not easy but it teaches valuable life lessons on developing Godly character with humility and cultivating meaningful relationships with others whether it is personal or business.

Today, I encourage you to reflect on this question: When was the last time you were "intentional" to LISTEN and to be SILENT? God wants your full attention!

Peace and Blessings,
