The Unusual Blessing

Updated: Jul 31, 2019

The "Unusual" Blessing: Many times we have certain expectations and think that God "should" bless us in a specific way, or bless us just how He did for someone else. When it comes to God's Sovereignty, He is known for doing "unusual" things to bless us abundantly and strategically. For example: God did something very "unusual" by sending ravens (dirty birds, birds that are known for being scavengers eating all types of foul things) to feed Elijah, the Prophet.

I Kings 17:2-4 "Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.” Notice how Elijah was both open-minded and strategically led by God to receive his "unusual" blessing. He didn't reject his provision from God cause it didn't appear as he had expected. He didn't complain that he was being fed from ravenous creatures.

The Prophet went to where God instructed him although it was very "unusual". Today, I encourage you to be very open-minded and sensitive to God's strategic plan for you. Your "unusual" blessing will not look like someone else's blessing, and it may not come in the total package that you intended.

Peace and Blessings,
